Status of National Policies, Action Plans, Strategies and Legislation

The Government of Swaziland has, as an overriding development plan, the National Development Strategy (NDS) supported by the Swaziland Environment Action Plan (SEAP).

The NDS outlines Swaziland's developmental goals for the next 25 years and is viewed as the highest level policy document. The SEAP is the environmental equivalent of the NDS and outlines the environmental issues relating to Swaziland's sustainable development with recommendations for actions to promote environmentally sustainable development.

The NDS has spawned a variety of Ministerial policies, strategies, action plans and legislation all of which more clearly articulate the broad policy statements made in the NDS and SEAP.

The table below presents only those documents that are known to ECS and can not be taken to be a complete list.
