Agreement with Neighbours

Before project implementation an agreement will be reached with South Africa and Mozambique on the extracting of peak flow water from the Usuthu River.

A Tri-partite Technical Committee (TPTC) has been established to develop a water sharing agreement on the basis of a large-scale study of the Maputo Basin.

Since this will take time the TPTC is working on the details of an interim water agreement for the Usuthu River, which would allow the development of the project. It is expected that this interim agreement will be signed latest in June 2000.
