The headworks and the irrigation of the Bovane Block will form Stage I of LUSIP and will require a six-year implementation period.

This will be followed by Stage II, which will consist of the construction of the pipeline between the two blocks and the irrigation of the South (Matata) Block.

Provided the design and tendering for Stage II is included as one of the tasks in Stage I, Stage II will follow on immediately and take a further four years.

The implementation of LUSIP will include the following tasks:

  • Construction of the headworks and irrigation system;
  • Setting-up of WUG;
  • Training of project personnel and farmers;
  • Extension work with farmers.
