There is a thriving sugar industry and cotton ginnery in the project area, both ready to expand. Input suppliers and transport companies exist in the project vicinity.

Many smallholders are already realising comparable sugar yields to the estates, which could be replicated on the project in addition to the growing of other crops. Crop choice will be free depending on agro-climatic conditions, soil suitability, farmers' experience and processing capacity. Nevertheless, major crops will be sugar cane, cotton, bananas, vegetable and maize.

The direct beneficiaries will be approximately 3,300 farm households or about 30,000 people. While employment amounting to 5,300 man-years will be created during implementation, some 5,600 jobs will be produced after full development.
